I’m no idol but you want me to go on a trip to the jungle with a bunch of them?

Party people! I need something new to read and good to watch. With all of the options out there, and all of the streaming services I am currently paying for, you wouldn’t think finding something engaging would be a challenge.

Is it me? It makes no sense that I keep trying new dramas and books and then I click away, literally or metaphorically. I wasn’t like that in the past. I’d hang with something until the bitter end — even if I had to fast forward through it, I finished. Not these days!

These days, if you lose my interest, I preserve that energy for something that I enjoy more. So, if you ever read anything of mine and you feel some kind of way about it, please let me know. I may not do anything about it, but I am definitely interested in hearing your feedback.

But seriously, my standards have gotten high! If you’re not Byeon Woo-Seok fine (pictured here), talented and engaging, I’m out. No shade.

Anyway, here’s another snippet from book 2 in my Idol Love series. I hope you read the first book Saints and Sinnas. If you did, thank you! Please leave me a review on Amazon, ok?

In this snippet, which picks up where last week’s left off, our heroine Vi has reluctantly agreed to participate in a variety show with Bik, the rest of the members, and a few other K-pop idols and starlets. She’s not at all sure she made the right decision, but it’s too late to back out now. Meanwhile, she’s keeping Bik on his toes, and he find that he likes it…

Before Vi knew it her bag was packed with Sinna and Saint approved clothes, and she, 501K and two starlets – one from a very popular girl group, the other a well-known, talented young actress with a string of hit dramas and endorsements under her belt – were on their way to some gorgeous place she’d already forgotten the name of.

She’d asked a thousand questions and was reasonably satisfied that they wouldn’t starve or be eaten by wild animals. Barring injury, it would be just like camping, only with idols and no bears. She still had no clue why she was chosen to accompany the other two women. They were gorgeous for one thing, and very talented. She was small, and fairly nondescript except for her brightly colored hair. Perhaps she was a foil? That made sense.

“They probably just brought my black ass there to do all the work,” she muttered, then immediately felt bad.

Despite her worries over racism and such, she’d never been made to feel less than since she began working with the group. Well, except for Min Ki, and that wasn’t about color as much as it was hierarchy and status. Plus, Vi had her ass pretty well in check.

That heffa was super pissed when she found out Vi was going on a trip with the group. She chuckled now just thinking about it.

“What’s so funny, love?”

Bik. She glanced at him then immediately glanced away. “Nothing,” she whispered. “Just remembered something silly.”

“I like silly,” he said, smiling invitingly.

But Vi just shook her head and found somewhere else she needed to be.

Bik sighed watching her walk away.

“I’m always bloody watching her leave,” he muttered.

Yes. Tan

“Shut up.”

Why don’t you just ask her out? I’ve never known you to hesitate like this. Times gone by you’d have charmed your way into her bed already.

Bik sighed gustily. I want to, but I’ve been advised not to.

By who?

Sinna and Saint. On two separate occasions.

Really? Why?

She’s shy and for reasons unknown to me, scared. They told me I’d have better luck if I take it slow. Let her get to know me as a friend first. But she keeps running away! I can barely get her to exchange two sentences with me. How can I become her friend when I can’t even get her to hold a conversation?

How frustrating.

“No shit,” Bik muttered.

You’re aggravated, Tan said sympathetically.

Yeah? How can you tell?

“You’re speaking in English more, and you’re more sarcastic. You always go back to your mother tongue when you’re upset.”

Bik grunted.

But I think it’s working.

Really? Why?

I see her peeking at you sometimes when you’re not looking.

Really?!

Tan nodded. I think she likes you too. What is she afraid of? Did Sinna and Saint tell you?

They won’t. Said it’s her story to tell.

It must be about a man.

Right, but what kind of relationship did they have? Was he a boyfriend? Lover?

Maybe a husband?

You think? Bik sounded appalled.

It’s possible.

Bik sighed irritably. He didn’t like to think of her belonging to any another man, but a husband implied long term ownership and a closeness he was jealous of even in theory. I suppose so, he said reluctantly.

It must have been bad if she’s this skittish.

I know.

Does she drink?

Bik laughed. “Well, that was random. I dunno. Why?”

People almost always talk more when they’re drunk. And we are about to go on a trip together. There may be an opportunity for you to get closer once we’re out of our usual environment. Perhaps you can loosen her tongue with a little beer or soju?

Bik brightened. “That’s bloody brilliant! Why didn’t I think of that?”

I’m older and wiser.

And more manipulative.

Thank you. “You forget the hoops I had to jump through to secure my woman.”

Bik rolled his eyes. “Don’t remind me. I pray I don’t have to go through that!”

Tan just laughed. “You already are.”

Bik just rolled his eyes, but he knew his friend was right. Still, now he had hope. He began counting down the days until the trip, and they passed far too slowly.

He grew more frustrated by the day. Vi had gracefully declined three of his invitations. One for lunch, one for dinner, and one to go for ice cream. But she hesitated over the last one, so he asked again the next day. Again she hesitated, but fate was on his side when Sinna overheard him and told her to “go ahead, girl. Bik can answer any lingering questions you may have before the trip. He’s been on a number of variety shows.”

He winked at her over his prey’s head, and she winked back. But Vi was no pushover. She said she had work and maybe next time in a way that said clearly, don’t ask. Sinna shrugged as if to say, “sorry! I tried.” Not that he cared.

He would try again, and he was determined to succeed. He would bloody stalk his prey if he had to, and eventually he would win her over.

On one hand, he could clearly see the flaws in this line of thinking. How was he different from any other dickhead who wouldn’t take no for an answer? The answer was, Vi herself.

Bik wasn’t nearly as innocent as his little blue haired hairdresser. He could tell when a woman found him attractive, and Vi did. Further, at one time or another all of his members had caught Vi staring at him, and not with enmity in her gaze. And finally, there was Sinna and Saint. He knew for a fact if those two didn’t think he was right for their friend, they’d do more than just dissuade him from pursuing her. He wouldn’t stand a bloody chance!

So, Bik didn’t feel bad thinking of Vi as prey. He’d always thought of women that way. It wasn’t a bad thing — at least not the way he did it, he thought smirking. After all, didn’t cats play with their prey? The whole dead mouse thing was incidental.

But Vi was different. She made him feel like he was trying to scale Mt. Everest in roller skates. She was too resolute and determined to stay away from him. She’d openly, repeatedly, and politely rejected him, and that was bloody unheard of.

It was ridiculous, but Bik realized he’d never been challenged by a woman. Still, he was determined to win this one over, and not because he wanted to sleep with her. This was not a one and done situation. Yes, sometimes his mouth literally watered at the thought of getting Vi on her back, but without ever even seeing her naked, he knew that he wanted to keep her. That’s what made her special. He’d never wanted to keep anyone close to him other than his members or his family. Vi he wanted to tether to his side and adorn her little ass with bells so he’d know if she went anywhere.

His desire for her was so strong it might actually have scared him had he spent time thinking about it. Instead, he indulged himself with fantasies of how it would feel to make love to her. It was going to take him a long while to get tired of her little body. Her slender limbs looked dainty but strong, and he’d mentally measured her tiny waist with his hands a dozen times. He devoted many minutes contemplating on that curvy little butt, those firm, high breasts that were big enough to overflow his hands – and his mouth. Neither of which was small. He couldn’t wait to test out her flesh with his teeth. Everything else would come later.

His members were watching with interest to see how things panned out. They thought it was hilarious that she was giving him a run for his money. Hyuk opined that her rejection was good for his character.

You’ve had it to easy, baby. Has there actually been a girl who didn’t fall into your arms the minute you turned those blue eyes her way? I can’t think of one. Can you?

Bik glared at his old friend, but took the others good natured ribbing in stride. No, actually. No one that he could remember had ever said no to him, which now that he thought about it was rather extraordinary. He wasn’t that bloody interesting. Of course, he was rich and famous, and his blue eyes in a Korean-English face were excellent lures with which to catch females.

But rejection good for his character? His arse. What exactly was wrong with his character he’d like to know? Was it his fault he was tall, talented, and had a great deal of money and fans? And with Sinna and Saint selecting every rag he put on his back he’d been getting even more attention. Though not nearly enough from the one person who actually mattered.

He wanted Vi. He wanted to sleep with her, snuggle her, feed her, tease her, fuck her, have her run her fingers through his hair when she wasn’t actively styling it, and this was strangest of all, he wanted to hear her say that she loved him.

I hope you enjoyed that snippet and you’re looking forward to the book. Subscribe to my newsletter, okay? I publish new content for you to enjoy every week.
