So How to Love a Pink Demon is out! I’ve already started editing my next release. It will be completely different, a new adult romance, still interracial, but there will be no paranormal activity. Just a good old-fashioned romance, this one set in the music world. I’ve always loved the virgin romance tropes – I mean who wants whorish lead characters? Although sometimes that can be fun… – but hopefully I’ve managed to add a little humor to this oldie but goodie.
My heroine Kae has known our hero Billy for years. They are members of the hottest, biggest girl and boy groups in the world. Their love story will detail a specific point in her life – she’s injured while embarking on her first solo project – and it will be part of a series.
Here’s an unedited snippet for you. Let me know what you think!
“I got it.”
“Yeah? Nice.”
G chuckled. “The realtor was pissed; I bargained his ass down to the ground. Remember, when you pay cash, you got mad leverage.”
“Got it.”
“It left a serious chunk missing from your account though.”
Kae laughed. Her brother sounded pissed that she had to pay for something. “Am I still a millionaire?”
“Multi,” G confirmed. “But I got a job for you to recoup.”
“Yeah? You working with my manager now?”
“Maybe,” he sniped. “No, you little shit. I’m your brother. One of my buddies passed along a message from someone at a very prominent cable channel who’s been trying to get at you for a while. Apparently you have standing orders to ignore all reality TV offers.”
“I can’t believe that’s disapproval I hear in your voice, brother mine. Do you really want me to join that special club of celebrities who make up Basketball Wives and Love and Hip Hop?”
“No, smart ass! I want you to do a one-off, streaming special with a deal that could lead to some even bigger shit. The contract I’m about to put on their asses is so official, they’ll have to ask me for permission to take a good shit before they cross the bathroom door.”
Kae snorted she laughed so hard. “Cable, huh?”
“Yup. Might as well wring their asses dry before the steaming services take over,” he mused. “I got Ming and Troy on the paperwork now. It’s gonna be –”
“Maybe you should tell me about it first?”
G sighed. “Kae. Don’t even think about dismissing this out of hand. It’s a fuck ton of money, and you don’t have shit to do but hold your hand out and take it.”
“I’m still waiting to hear the offer.”
“They wanna film you while you convalesce.”
He mentioned the fee.
Kae whistled. “Damn. I ain’t mad. But I don’t want people to see me like this, G.”
“Granny and the ‘rents are worried about you, Bits. I can hear the pain and fatigue in your voice.”
She sighed. “Makes sense. I feel like poo. In fact, brother mine, I’ve never felt this bad in my entire life.” She shifted uncomfortably. “Who knew bruises could be so painful?” she muttered. Her entire body was black and blue, which was saying something since Kae was a comfortable shade of brown.
“I wish I could sue some damn body,” G groused bitterly. “Fans my ass. You claim to love somebody then you pull them off stage and completely screw them up? It’s insane! I oughta go after the company that hired security. Those bum ass mother-”
“G! Stop looking for people to sue, dude. It was an accident. No one was trying to hurt me. Now, I gotta get off here.” She was tired from holding the doggone phone.
“Will you think about the deal?”
“Yeah.” That would be a hell no.
