The first few weeks and months of a relationship are full of big reveals. You’re finding out who your new or prospective lover is, and this time of discovery can be heady and occasionally unbelievable. In this unedited snippet from my latest WIP – which picks up where last week’s blog left off – Sinna finds out something extraordinary about our idol hero Tan.
The picture is of South Korean actor Nam Joo Hyuk. I haven’t watched him in anything – yet. But he’s so tall and masculine I’m sure I’ll remedy that shortly. Let me know what you think!
XOXO,
SS
Sinna burst out laughing. “What?!”
“He told me so. He bites her, hangs on her, pouts to get his way. Watch him with me. It’s not attraction. He wants attention. That and I’ve been taking care of him since he was 13 years old and away from his parents for the first time.”
“Holy shit,” she whispered. It made sense now that she thought about it.
“He was discovered on the street at 12, tall, gangly, those bright blue eyes shining. His parents didn’t let him go at first. But eventually he wore them down, and he became a trainee. When we met, for whatever reason, he glued himself to me. He was so cute and helpless. Hopelessly spoiled and so frail looking. He became my little brother, and I became his mother substitute.”
“My team does me like that sometimes.”
“See? So will the members. They already seek your approval, trying to make you laugh, wanting your attention. Of course, they also think you’re beautiful.”
Sinna rolled her eyes. “Saint’s the pretty one in this generation of our family.”
“You don’t think you’re pretty?”
She grinned at the incredulity in his voice. “No! Y’all just have a national fetish for black women, I have good skin, long hair, and I’m tall, thin and jazzy as hell.”
Tan laughed so hard he lost his breath, and she watched, dazzled by his happiness. “You’re very silly. You’re gorgeous.”
She inclined her head in thanks. “You’re English has improved a lot. Is Bik still teaching you?”
Yes. “I’ve been teased that I now have an English accent.”
She grinned. He did. But it sounded great.
“Do you find me handsome?”
“Very.”
“What do you like about my looks?”
Sinna rolled her eyes. “Koreans! I thought LA was bad. Y’all have to be the vainest people I’ve ever met.”
He just looked at her expectantly.
“Pass, honey. I ain’t playin’ this game.”
He pouted, and when she rolled her eyes again, he grinned so hard she couldn’t help but smile back.
“I would like to be your lover.”
Sinna cocked a brow. He didn’t believe in beating around the bush, this boy. “Oh, yeah?”
He nodded. “You will be my first.”
“Oh, yeah? Wait. Run that back?”
“Sorry?”
“Say that again.”
“You will be my first?”
She stared at him like he’d just turned green and grown horns. “How is that possible?”
He laughed softly, and leaned back, looking incredibly masculine and not at all embarrassed to admit to being a beautiful, male, 29-year-old virgin.
“You’re gorgeous, an international music star, and a celebrated actor. You have millions of female fans in multiple countries. No one has ever caught your eye?”
“Of course. I’ve had a few relationships. They just never got beyond kissing and hugging.”
She shook her head. “I know your members aren’t virgins.”
“No,” he smirked.
“You’re really special,” she mused, and he dimpled at the compliment.
“Thank you.”
“Tell me about you.” She wanted some first-hand information, not hand me down tidbits and gossip.
