When you’ve been out of the love game for a while, it can be tough to believe its real. You want to believe, all of the evidence could point to the truth, but your mind will hold off. Sometimes all you need is a little truth telling from your besties to clarify that yes, this man is riding for you ’til the end of the line. And there’s no better way to illustrate that than Tan’s behind the scenes behavior toward our heroine.
In this weeks blog, which picks up where last weeks left off, Sinna gets more confirmation that Tan cares deeply for her.
Let me know what you think!
Oh, the picture is of actor Kim Soo Hyun who I just started watching in Netflix It’s Okay to Not Be Okay. Yum.
XOXO,
SS
“And he’s mad smart and thoughtful, girl. For real! Turns out, he had several endorsement contracts run out not long after you joined the team. Once he met you he deliberately held off on renewing them because – ”
“A scandal could damage their brand and his and cost him money,” Sinna finished.
Tommy nodded. “Exactly.”
Sinna looked exactly how she felt, completely shocked.
“Girl, that’s the kind of man you need. He’s legit! That’s why I’ve got so much foreign shit poppin’ right now with him in places that don’t have these bum ass scandal clauses. So – ”
Saint poked his head around the door. “The boys are here. Y’all had enough girl time?”
“No!” They cried together.
“Too bad,” he grinned. “The party’s about to start. Your cousin and two strippers are 10 minutes out,” he told Tommy.
“Bee’s here?” Sinna
“Yup. I’m putting on a limited run, ghetto Burlesque show at Dominic’s hotel.”
Sinna’s eyebrows did their best to meet her hairline. “Say what?”
“If you tippin’, I’m strippin’,” Lani offered.
“That’s the show title?!”
“Like it?” Tommy grinned. “The poster makes the phrase ‘hot girl summer’ look like a visit to the ice cream truck, bitch! Anticipation is super high. The VIP sold out for the first month less than an hour after the poster went up. And the tickets ain’t cheap!
“I got the title hanging from the ceiling in pink neon fluorescent wire over the stage. It’s Hip Hop meets the pole in Asia with a little R&B thrown in. Shit’s crazy. Y’all gotta come when we open.”
Sinna shook her head in awe. “How in the absolute hell did you talk Dominic into that?”
Tommy shrugged. “Profits aren’t as high as he’d like. The hotel needs the juice; he asked me what to do, and this was my idea. South Koreans wanna be in low key love with the cocoa, I’ma give their asses something real sexy to stare at. Lani’s doing the costumes. They’re gonna pay 150,000 won per ticket for the privilege of seeing live in the flesh the answer to the question: What do New York strippers do when they come to Seoul?”
“What?” Sinna asked, grinning.
“The same damn thing they do in NYC, baby. Only with a little more fabric, a little less ratchet, and a lot more dance,” she winked, and they all laughed.
“What about the baby?” Tommy’s cousin Beatrice died 7 months ago, and her sister Benita – Bee – now had custody of her two-year-old daughter.
“Dominic found us a Blasian nanny with excellent credentials. If she doesn’t work out, someone from the hotel will pinch hit until one of my cousins can get here from New York. It’s gonna work out. Bee is too hype to get back to work. She’s been doing great with her Instagram and YouTube channel, but I think she missed dancing on stage as much as she missed the money.”
Bee was one of the hottest strippers out before she became a defacto mom.
“Damn, girl. What don’t you have poppin’?”
“Nothing,” Tommy promised. “Everybody else here is profiting off this K-pop explosion. It’s about time we did too, and I’m just the bitch to make it happen.”
Her eyes strayed to the door as a tall, extremely handsome man with a hopeful smile peeked around the corner. “Hi, Tan.” She rose and opened her arms. “I’m Tommy. It’s so nice to finally meet you.”
