La Houston made so many beautiful songs, but her remake of Chaka Khan’s I’m Every Woman is one of my favorites. She was pregnant with Bobbi Kristina in the video and looks and sounds absolutely fabulous. Seeing it again and considering how relatively young Whitney was when she died makes me think about the importance of legacy. What will you leave behind?
Whitney was blessed with an amazing voice. It hurts to know that it was a gift that in some ways was squandered by demons and drugs. I am grateful, however, the her voice lives on in song.
I totally agree, Kimberley. It’s like what if, you know? What other wonderful music could she have made had she not wasted that time on drugs? But what we do have from her is wonderful, and I’m thankful for it. She has decades old performances that still make me cry like every time I hear them.
