They say you only need a few good friends, and I agree. Actually the old saying says you only need two, and that’s just in case one dies, but that’s a bit much…lol Friends are wonderful! Especially old friends. They know you better because you have shared history and experience. The caring can be deeper, and a good friend, old or new, will protect you like no other. That’s definitely the case with Tommy, Lani and Sinna. In this snippet from my upcoming interracial romance novel “Saints and Sinnas,” you get a taste of that. Her girls practically just landed, and already they’re in full on protective mode, and our heroine needs their soothing presence like a flower needs water.
This clip picks up where last weeks left off. Let me know what you think! My bum ass is going to publish this month. Or, I don’t know. I’ll just have to hang my head in virtual shame for making y’all wait this long.
Oh, the picture if of South Korean actor Hyun Bin. I’ve been rewatching Crash Landing Into You while waiting for new episodes of King, Eternal Monarch on Netflix. Best pout ever…
XOXO,
SS
Saint and Jon crowded around, hugging and kissing and talking at once, and Cressida appeared with a tray holding two full wineglasses and a bottle of water for Adam.
“God bless you, girl. I’m bone dry,” said Tommy, swilling hers down in one long gulp.
Lani wasn’t much better. “That is one long flight,” she said, shaking her head. “God knows what shape we’d be in if we hadn’t flown private.”
Sinna’s brows rose. “Dom has a plane?”
“It’s a friend’s,” said Tommy, finishing her glass. “Where’s the kitchen, and the bottle?”
Sinna laughed. “God, I missed y’all.”
“So, how’s it going?” Tommy asked, after her glass was refilled and she was sampling some vegetable dumplings.
Sinna’s eyes filled with tears. “Great. I’m so fucking tired I don’t know what to do!”
Saint and Jon looked appalled. Cressida just looked sad. She knew how hard her boss was working, and how much stress she was under.
“Sinna,” Saint began, but Tommy held up a hand.
“How can we help you?” her friend asked.
Sinna shook her head, accepting the napkin Jon gave her to wipe her eyes. “Vi’s coming to do their hair and fill a much needed slot on the team. Things should ease up a little, I hope. But this crazy ass man keeps adding new things to my plate!”
“You’re probably not happy Mr. Big Wig wants you to start doing appearances either,” Tommy guessed.
Sinna rolled her eyes. “How’d you guess?”
“I’m psychic,” Tommy said, her tone as dry as ice.
“Girl, I seriously don’t have time. I created this animal, and –” more tears fell. “This good lookin’ mother fucker is about to eat me alive!”
Now Lani enveloped her, rocking and patting her back.
“They look great!” Sinna cried. “Record views every rip, tons of positive press, jam packed appearances, sold out everything, endless commentary and even awards on their fucking beauty, for God’s sake, but now I can’t slip. Everybody’s watching. Then they added all these shows to the tour because they’re getting so much attention, and Mr. Big Wig calls me every single day.
“I’m not used to somebody checkin’ on me all the time. It’s so annoying! He keeps asking me all these goofy ass questions. I don’t know what I’m gonna do about some fuckin’ award show a month from now! Of course I have ideas, but it takes time to cultivate things. And none of it can overlap since they’re constantly photographed. I can barely keep up with tomorrow!”
“I’ll call him,” Tommy said, motioning to Saint to take the others out and give them some privacy. “He doesn’t need to be in your mix like this. I’ma get Dom’s translator in a room, and give his ass the business,” she promised. “I might mess around and get some more money out his ass too! He wanna micro manage, he need to macro pay for additional service.”
They all laughed and drank to that.
Sinna sniffed and dried her eyes. “I doubt it, girl. We just got a 35 percent bump.”
“Well, I’ma get some kinda support out of him. Leave it to me,” Tommy urged. “On the real, I hate to add to the mix, but I’ma need you to do a couple things, and it’s not gon’ be easy,” she warned.
